Keep a Magnificent Mane.

We all know that the products we use in our hair influence the way it grows, feels, looks, and so on. However, did you know that foods we eat, and many other factors have a huge effect on our mane as well?

Our diet affects every aspect of our life, and we all know that, but what food nutrients can make your hair oh-so-smooth? Anything with Protein and Iron, of course! Protein helps with cell growth and repairing split cells, while Iron produces hemoglobin in the blood, which allows for oxygen to flow to the cells to enhance re-growth. Excess sugars intercept the necessary minerals vital for healthy hair.

Hormones. Many women experience hair loss throughout the different stages of our life, before menopause, post-menopause, after pregnancies...But if you are still noticing access hair loss after your hormones are "balanced out" a common cause is low thyroid levels. Go see an endocrinologist to get your thyroid levels checked.

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient for making those hair follicles super luscious, and clearing toxins from the.Grab some oranges and eat up! Smoking destroys vitam C in the body, and Nicotine contracts blood vessels, making it impossible for those nutrients to reach your skin and hair.

Stress is a huge factor! When you are under stress you tense up, but tension in the scalp restricts the flow of certain nutrients and oxygen from flowing to your hair follicles.

You can read more about it here:

Now relax, eat some oranges, and have happy, healthy, luscious hair.

Nail Treatments?!

You all know how much we love our Butter London Nail Polish! But have you tried their nail treatments?

We sell 5 of 6 treatments at Twig and we love them all!

"Handbag Holiday" gives your cuticles the gift of nourishment. A mixture of minerals and oils helps to replenish and heal those nasty cutclies that we all love to neglect.

"Hardwear Topcoat" helps lock in that manicure longer than ever. And with the non-toxic protection, it's a win-win situation!

Say hello to "Horse Power." This beauty uses the power of herbs, Horsetail to be exact, to help your growing nails, or brittle nails, grow longer and stronger. Apply this product once a day for seven days, remove after a week and start over again. Alix, one of our Twiggies, has been using it for three weeks and has seen great results!

"Melt Away" works great combined with the "Handbag Holiday." The name says it all. It takes those dead skin cells off of your cuticles and helps grow softer, healthier cuticles.

Last but certainly not least is the "Nail Foundation." Pamper your nails with this lovely basecoat. Silky finish and stain resistant. So fresh, you can wear it all by itself.

So come on in and try these wonderful products!

Think. Buy. Be Local. Part Trois.

Learn it. Live it. Love it. We sure do!

Three more reasons to Keep it Local:

Reason 8-"Better Service:" Local businesses often hire employees who understand the products that are used, who use the products themselves, and take the time to cater to the needs of the customers. At Twig, we always listen to your needs first, and figure out which product will work best with your hair type.

Reason 9-"Demand better product:" When you buy local, you are helping companies grow. Local companies often sell safe, environmentally conscious products. Instead of buying from a corporate company that sells millions of products, you choose a better lifestyle, and buy from a mindful company. When you demand better service and products, the whole service industry is affected, and better products arise elsewhere.

Reason 10-"Local Prosperity:" Some research shows that "entrepeneurs and skilled workers are more likely to invest and settle in communities that preserve their one-of-a-kind businesses".

So go out to your local shops, meet some new friends, hang out with old ones, and encourage local prosperity.

Twigterns!

The Intern program at TWIG is "a good foundation" for any aspiring hair designer, says Rachel, who has finished the program and is now working as a part-time designer. Because of the program, Rachel has had the opportunity to grow her clientele larger than ever before. Upon graduating from cosmetology school she heard about the program and says that she "landed in the right spot." She finished part one of the program last year, and has now moved on to the second.

TWIG's intern program is the perfect fit for any aspiring hair designer looking to build their knowledge and perfect their skills. Each intern works under our experienced team with special emphasis under our designated mentors.

As of right now, we have four ladies attending classes every Tuesday morning, eager to take on the floor.

Meet Taryn, Regina, Andenise, and Sammi.

Taryn has been attending classes since September of 2011, her most recent class is on the graduated bob. She has had the great pleasure of being on the floor every Thursday for about two months now, treating clients to blowouts, colors, and hair cuts. These clients receive the ultimate TWIG experience, for a fraction of the cost.

Regina has been in the program for about nine months now. She is currently perfecting men's professional razor cuts. Regina is our do-all assistant, constantly running around to help everyone in the salon.

Andenise has been here at TWIG since October, and has also been Jennifer's personal assistant for the past month learning styling, cutting, and coloring techniques first hand.

Sammi is our newest intern. She has been assisting Ashley with blowdrys and shampoos. She is presently working on her bobs on tuesdays.

This program is helping these ladies grow into confident, skilled designers, with their own personal touch on techniques.

If you are interested in our intern program, visit the intern page of our site, give us a call, or e-mail us anytime! TWIGhair@gmail.com
