Do you feel like the expectations these days are getting out of hand? How do you feel about propaganda that consistently says you're not good enough unless you "buy this product?" Personally, I'm a little fed up trying to live up to these unrealistic expectations that society seems to think that are "normal."

When I start feeling like I'm not good enough, or I start feeling as if I'm not living up to these misconceptions of real beauty, I turn to my Bitch magazine.

Bitch media is a non-profit organization, their mission is "to provide and encourage an engaged, thoughtful feminist response to mainstream media and popular culture."

You may be asking, why choose such an off-putting word as their name? Well, here's your answer. "The writer Rebecca West said, 'People call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that differentiate me from a doormat.' We’d argue that the word 'bitch' is usually deployed for the same purpose. When it’s being used as an insult, 'bitch' is an epithet hurled at women who speak their minds, who have opinions and don’t shy away from expressing them, and who don’t sit by and smile uncomfortably if they’re bothered or offended. If being an outspoken woman means being a bitch, we’ll take that as a compliment."

These ladies and gentlemen at Bitch understand that being a part of this culture means being the best person you can be, and to never let propaganda rule the way you live your life. They express self-love and love for all humans, no matter how they choose to live their life. Now that's something I can get behind!

http://bitchmagazine.org/

So check out their site! Donate some money or buy a subscription for a loved one in your life that needs a little up-lifting, comedic, relief. Even just donating 5 dollars a month gets you a full years subscription!

This magazine is sure to make you feel like you are worth it! "Keep Bitch Media in your life, and keep it alive for many years to come. Support what you love. Support Bitch Media!"

I saw this video when I was in High School and thought it would be appropriate to share.

This video goes along with this website: http://www.safecosmetics.org

The site is all about demanding safer products and a better world. Signing up for their e-mail list will send you the latest information on which products contain all the bad stuff that makes our skin, hair, and world, unhealthy. The creator of the video has also made others in which she pinpoints the flaws of this materialistic world of ours. "The Story of Stuff" describes the process of how "stuff" is made, shipped, used, thrown away, bought again, and the ways we can fix the problems that arise in the whole process.

The blog is short, but the subject is huge! Watch the video and educate yourself on the problem that is arising. This can't stop until the problem is heard. So share this with your friends, and begin creating a healthier world for you, your family, and loved ones.

I purchased my monthly Intelligent Nutrients Lip Delivery Antioxidant Balm and there it was, staring me in the face. http://leapingbunny.org/indexcus.php is the perfect tool for anyone looking for more information on how to shop cruelty free. At TWIG, we are against any and all animal testing and absolutely refuse to carry any products that are tested on our dear furry little friends.

The Leaping Bunny Program, which is run by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics' (What a mouthful, right?!), administers a cruelty-free standard and the internationally recognized Leaping Bunny Logo for companies producing cosmetic, personal care, and household products. The Leaping Bunny Program provides the best assurance that no new animal testing is used in any phase of product development by the company, its laboratories, or suppliers.

There are copious amounts of products that are animal tested that the public is ill-informed on, so we figured we would shed some light on them, and do our part in the efforts to save the bunnies!

So look out for that little Leaping Bunny, that will hopefully be making its debut on many more products soon, and support cruelty-free!

The looks he has created are timeless and classy. His academy in London is well-known to be one of the best in the world. Three lucky Twiggies, Jen, Ashley, and Rachel, are getting an amazing opportunity to take some classes at the academy to learn from the best!

Sassoon was born in London in 1928. As he tells it, he didn't have any interest in hair until he was 14, when he started working at a salon sweeping floors.

After dropping out of high-school, he started working under one of the most famous hairstylists of the 1950's, Mr. Teasy-Weasy, A.K.A. Raymond Bessone. Bessone has been credited for inventing the bouffant, or the "beehive." He was the Hairdresser for the Stars.

In 1963, Sassoon was creating the trendiest looks of the time, the "Bob" being one of them, and pioneered geometric hairdos in 1966. Only a year later, he was paid $5,000 to create the iconic look of Mia Farrow in Rosemary's Baby.

If that doesn't knock your socks off, he was also the official hairstylist of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics!
