Trend alert! High voltage hologram
THE word hologram may bring to mind Tupac’s “resurrected” performance at the Coachella festival last year, but this iridescent finish is set to become a major fashion trend, this year.
The hologram trend seems to have spread at the speed of light, quickly appearing on jackets, headbands, jeans and shoes.
International designers like Burberry Prosum, Stella McCartney and Jonathan Saunders featured this futuristic look in their Spring/Resort ’13 collections and now budget friendly retailers such as Asos.com have begun to roll out affordable holographic pieces.
Separates and accessories featuring iridescent, hologram-inspired colours and shine have the power to give an edge to classic ensembles, a touch of glamour to neutrals and a fashion-forward element to punk and gothic looks.
Even though the holographic trend has an ultra-modern and fashion-forward aesthetic, it’s also a surprisingly easy trend to pull off .... just don’t overdo it from head to toe, of course.
Fashion forward or tasteless?
