With a year-round growing season and plenty of consistent sunshine, it stands to reason San Diego has the potential to produce a wealth of agricultural product.
Compared with other American counties, San Diego is the top producer of avocados and second in terms of acreage devoted to guavas, pomegranates, limes, and macadamias. San Diego also is number three in honey production, number five in lemons, number nine in strawberries and ranked tenth in number of egg-laying hens.
