Pain

One thing that a paraffin hand spa can help with is pain or muscle tension in your joints. Pain caused by arthritis, muscle stiffness or injury may be relieved from paraffin therapy. If you have stiffness in your hands and joints, the heat from the paraffin can penetrate through and help relax tense muscles and fingers. A paraffin spa can also improve circulation in your hands and arms, explains the Institute. Pain related ailments that might improve from treatment include fibromyalgia, fibrosis, muscle inflammation and carpal tunnel. Treatment is performed when the spa is turned on and the temperature rises to allow the wax to liquefy. Hands and lower arms are submerged for a few seconds to a few minutes. When you remove your hands, the wax begins to dry. They can be placed into toweling mitts where the hands and arms are able to relax. This assists with muscle release and promotes relaxation.

Rehydrate

A paraffin hand spa can rehydrate your skin. If your skin is dry or cracked due to a medical condition, cold weather or stress, the paraffin wax will help your skin go from scaly and crusty to silky smooth. Treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes and new skin is revealed as you peel away the wax. The skins color can also improve to a healthier, more youthful tone. Skin conditions like psoriasis, eczema and patches of itchy and dry skin can see hydrating benefits after a treatment. A paraffin spa can warm up cold hands in the winter and leave them hydrated after just one use. The Medical Supplies and Equipment Co. explain that paraffin therapy can also be used in preparation for massage therapy as a way to relax hands and add moisture.

Smoothness

The I Love India website states that our hands are one of the most neglected parts of body. They are the work horses and often times go by unappreciated. Taking care of the rough patches will help your hands look younger and resist the chance of chafing, or cutting. Hands that are rough or have patches of skin that is uneven or untoned may see benefits through paraffin wax therapy. If you are using your wax treatment as part of a therapy session you can also add a small amount of essential oil such as lavender or ginger for a relaxing and invigorating scent that will leave your hands smelling nice after a session.
