Today, as many of you may know, is the second day of the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration. It is a Mexican holiday dating back hundreds of years to the Aztecs. During the two day celebration, family and friends get together and build alters honoring the deceased. They decorate these alters with sugar skulls, marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the deceased. Families and friends also visit the grave leaving trinkets and prized possessions.
So today, we honor all that have passed away, both young and old, near and far. May they rest in peace.
