The girls here at Twig take great pride in their polish and we want to get you (our fashion savvy client) up to speed with some of our favorite nail trends. Butter polish is our guaranteed way to give you "it" nails every season. Founded by she-brit Sasha Muir, along with London's leading manicurist/nail trend spotter, Nonie Creme, Butter London never fails to deliver the hottest nail colors. Wear them plain or dress em up!
At Vena Cava’s Fall/Winter 2010 show at New York Fashion Week, Butter London’s Founding Creative Director, Nonie Creme, was backstage fashioning nails soon to hit the runways. So, what marvelous mani does Nonie have us coveting now? The reverse half moon with an edgy, tonal twist.
To get the look, paint nails with 3 coats of Yummy Mummy ($14), a medium beige that works on every skin tone. Once dry, carefully paint the half moon shape in Union Jack Black ($14), a glossy black patent-leather like shade. Use a fine tipped paint brush to help with creating the outline of the half moon and the normal polish brush for filling in. *For a pristine polish job, follow our top tip below!* Once finished, you’re ready to go – with nails that instantly give you trend-setter status (on a budget!).
Don't think you have what it takes to rock the half-moon mani? Try one of our favorite polish tricks. Spruce up any ole manicure by painting a nail or two from each hand a different color than the majority. How about a new take on the french tip? Pick any unordinary shade to give this classic a new feel.
*Top tip for painting- using your thumb, gently pull the skin away from each fingertip when painting, and apply a little lacquer to the end of every fingernail, wrapping the colour all the way around the underneath of the nail. Then apply the rest of your shade as normal. Let nails dry before applying a topcoat (ALWAYS use a top coat). Your nails should last 1-3 days longer than normal!
